General Staff of the Navy, the General Staff of National Défence as Director of International Relations, and the Ministry of National Defence as Deputy Director General of National Defence Policy and International Relations. He has also served in the Chief of Naval Staff’s Executive Of- fice as press officer for the Hellenic Navy and at the Greek Embassy in Ankara as naval attaché. At the same time, he was commander of the Naval Helicopter School, commander of Naval training, commander of the Naval Cadet School, and commander of the National Defence School. He retired with the rank of Vice Admiral in Janu- ary 2019 and was awarded the title of Honorary

Commander of the National Defence School. With the creation of the position of National Security Advisor to the Prime Minister, Alexandros Diakopoulos accepted to serve as the first advisor. He resigned from his position on August 19, 2020. On May 7, 2021, he was appointed Director Gen- eral of Development Cooperation and Humani- tarian Aid at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, from which he resigned in early 2024 to take up the po- sition of Executive Chairman of the HAI. On Feb- ruary 2, 2024, he was appointed Executive Chair- man of Hellenic Aerospace Industry, and in March 2024, he was appointed First Vice-President of the
Board of Directors of the War Museum.
