HELLENIC AEROSPACE INDUStRY
50 years of the ΗAI: the new strategic capital for Greece’s aerospace development
the 50th anniversary of the ΗΑι is not only a milestone in our development but also a powerful landmark for the new era that is already taking shape. the establishment
of ΗΑι in 1975 was one of the first major strate- gic steps taken during the Metapolitefsi period in order to strengthen national independence in the field of aeronautical defence. today, half a cen- tury later, we continue to make history—with more capabilities, new strategic allies, and, above all, the will to play a leading role in the new geopo- litical and technological reality, based on a sound economic foundation.
the strategic transformation plan of HAI is progressing steadily, focusing on five pillars: oper- ational efficiency & competitiveness, technologi- cal upgrading, extroversion, high value-added al- liances, and human capital.
operational efficiency & competitiveness
• the F-16 to Viper level upgrade program is be- ing completed, making HAI one of the few glo- bally authorised partners of Lockheed Martin.
• A modern reporting system is introduced, based on strict cost control and a focus on profitable programs and products.

• A new system of operational unit targeting is in- troduced, based on rewards for achieving meas- urable production and operational targets.
technological innovation
• Full development of the new UAV products “Ar- chytas” and “Kentavros” is progressing, in con- junction with the maturation of Greek technol- ogy prototypes in anti-UAV applications.
• the HAI’s capabilities in the field of multi-level defence are expanding with its participation in the design and construction of the Greek inte- grated air defence system “Achilles Shield”.
geopolitical dimensions & strategic partnerships
the development of the “Achilles Shield” system transcends the boundaries of a technological venture. In collaboration with international com- panies, HAI is setting a new example of intrastate co-exploitation of cutting-edge technology, with the aim of meeting critical air defence needs, ac- tive industrial participation, and the possibility of export utilization.
this system aspires to become not only a ‘na- tional umbrella’ of protection, but also a platform for technological self-sufficiency. this is the first
