{"id":15200,"date":"2026-03-31T12:36:23","date_gmt":"2026-03-31T09:36:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/haicorp.com\/ifurther-2\/"},"modified":"2026-04-28T11:18:36","modified_gmt":"2026-04-28T08:18:36","slug":"ifurther-en","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/haicorp.com\/en\/ifurther-en\/","title":{"rendered":"iFURTHER &#8211; hIgh FreqUency oveR The Horizon sensors\u2019 cognitivE netwoRk"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Long-range (Over-the-Horizon) surveillance, with applications in both air and maritime domains.<\/strong><br><br>The iFURTHER project is a major European initiative in the field of long-range surveillance, with applications in both air and maritime domains.<br><br>This 3-year research and innovation project was funded by the European Defence Fund through EC\/DG DEFIS (General Directorate for Defence Industry and Space) and implemented by 17 partners (Industries, Small\/Medium-size Enterprises, Scientific Research Institutes and Universities), coordinated by Hellenic Aerospace Industry SA.<br><br>iFURTHER focused on beyond-the-horizon surveillance. Its objective was to extend existing Over-the-Horizon radar technologies and address covert, wide-area air and sea surveillance. This is the first step for creating distributed systems of such radars by interconnecting HF-based surveillance systems within a collaborative radar network covering the EU region.<br><br>Foreseen applications of the technologies developed under iFURTHER:<br>\u2022 Long-range surveillance out to and beyond 200nm EEZ territory<br>\u2022 Defence against diverse threats through AI-assisted technologies<br>\u2022 Early detection of ship, aircraft, high speed targets &amp; reduction of reaction time<br>\u2022 Integration within other defence applications \/ early warning systems<br><br>In today\u2019s context, where the threat spectrum faced by the European Union is continuously broadening, the project contributed to strengthening the EU\u2019s defence capabilities and developing a more integrated, resilient and interoperable European surveillance capability, aligned with the present security and defence requirements.
