the HAI engine factory is an international Au- thorized Repair Centre for Honeywell, Rolls-Royce, Safran Aircraft Engines, and the aircraft factory for Lockheed Martin. the HAI currently provides maintenance services to Safran’s international cus- tomers for the repair/maintenance of M-53-P2 air- craft engines. It also continues its colaboration with NAtO’s AEW&C air force, providing maintenance for Boeing E-3 Sentry (AWACS) aircraft engines.
the HAI has established itself as a special- ized aircraft upgrade and conversion centre and is currently undertaking two upgrade programs on behalf of the Hellenic Air Force:
F-16 Viper
In 2018, a $1.1 billion intergovernmental agreement was signed with the US to upgrade 83 F-16s to the V version, which is an upgrade of the avionics and weapon systems. Conversion work began in 2021, and the first tests took place in 2022. On Sep- tember 12, 2022, the ceremony for the delivery of the first two upgraded aircraft to the Hellenic Air Force took place. In September 2025, the 42nd fighter aircraft was delivered, and the program is expected to be completed in 2027.

the Mid-Life Update (MLU) program involves the structural and avionics upgrade of four aircraft, with the installation of new wings, the reconstruc- tion of the tail section, and the replacement of the central wing structure of the fuselage.
research, innovation & new product development
In recent years, the HAI has invested heavily in the development of new aeronautical technology systems, software, and electronics. Some of the most notable programs include:
clean sky i-ii
the HAI participated in the co-production of new civil aircraft for the European aeronautical indus- try, applying environmentally friendly technolo- gies. Moreover, the company has won a place in new European consortia led by Airbus and Leon- ardo, such as Clean Aviation HERWINGt, EDF ENGRt (European Next Generation Rotorcraft) and EDF FASEtt (tactical transport Aircraft).
