HELLENIC AEROSPACE INDUStRY
50 years of the HAI:
A vision that soars to new horizons
Five decades of innovation, technologi- cal leadership, and national contribution; Hellenic Aerospace Industry (HAI) cel- ebrates 50 years since its establishment
this year, confirming its position as one of the most important pillars of our country’s defence industry. throughout all these years, serving continuously and consistently its founding law and, through it, its national mission, HAI has grown into the back- bone of Greece’s defence aerospace industry, combining specialized know-how, technological excellence, and innovation.
From its early days to the present, HAI has not only been a strategic partner for the Air Force, but also organically linked to the country’s entirety of Armed Forces. Furthermore, it has established its position as a partner of international aerospace industry giants. And this, of course, was no mere coincidence.
HAI began operating on the initiative of the late Konstantinos Karamanlis in 1975, to cater to the F-4E Phantom, Mirage F1, and the A-7 Cor- sair aircrafts that had just been received. And al- though just recently, with the delivery of the last one, the 50-year cycle of factory support for the legendary F-4E Phantoms, which will soon be re- tired from active service, came to an end, HAI did

not stop there. this was followed by the mainte- nance of four generations of F-16 fighters and two generations of Mirage 2000s, with HAI always delivering combat-ready fighter aircrafts to the Air Force. And along with these, all other types of aircrafts and their engines, such as C-130 trans- port aircrafts, the CL-215 & CL-415 firefighting air- crafts, the ERIEYE AEW&C flying radars, and most recently the P-3B maritime patrol aircrafts, fulfill- ing its commitments to all of our country’s Armed Forces, as well as to Civil Protection.
through continuous effort, investment in tech- nology, and highly specialized human resources, it has managed to become a globally recognized technology centre. From the maintenance and up- grade of fighter aircrafts to its participation in in- ternational programs for the development of new aeronautical and defence systems, HAI has left its mark, playing a leading role in every aspect of aviation, aeronautics, and defence development over the past five decades.
today, as it celebrates 50 years of operation, HAI is not content to simply celebrate its past suc- cesses but is focusing dynamically on the future. It is already successfully implementing a series of programs with consistency and reliability, spear- headed by the program to upgrade Greek F-16s
