Environmental Strategy
HAI’s strategy for the environment is to protect the natural resources and to ensure the quality of the environment through actions focused on minimizing pollution via the integration of new technologies.
HAI’s modern facilities are well equipped for the treatment of residential wastewater, industrial waste and have the necessary infrastructure for the temporary storage and subsequent management of hazardous waste.
The result of these actions is that the measurements of chemical parameters, carried out by collaborating accredited laboratories, meet the limits imposed by the Greek Legislation.

We are continuously improving ourselves, showing respect to the local community and we have a sense of responsibility towards present and future generations.
We have created a new Environmental Directorate with upgraded capabilities, having as a primary objective the autonomy and effectiveness of HAI's actions towards the environmental.
The Environmental Directorate is staffed with experienced technical and scientific personnel specialized in environmental protection issues.
We adopt environmental behavior standards for the future.
We practice environmental sensitivity, a fundamental value of the Greek Aerospace Industry.
We are fully aware of our environmental responsibilities. We believe in continuous improvement and adoption of all new regulations. We cultivate the excellent cooperation from the human resources within our company, our customers, the local authorities, and the Greek State.
We adhere to the applicable National Environmental Legislation. We have designed an administrative mechanism for identifying and implementing all regulations at both national and EU level that works as a raw model.
We design our environmental management. The sensitivity for the environment is an integral part of our corporate culture. Every day, we evaluate the environmental impacts of any new production activity of each new product and new process. We carefully study the life cycle of products. We are committed to continuous improving our environmental performance, prevention, reduction of emissions, and waste generation.
We apply the rational management of resources, taking into account all available clean technologies. The primary aim is to save water, energy and raw materials. Design, implement and then revise when needed environmental programs and environmental goals.
For this purpose,
We set a standardized Environmental Management System, that designs and implements the actions for the environment, checks, controls and evaluates the results. The system assesses the environmental impacts from HAI's operations, whereas all industrial activities that directly or indirectly affect the environment. Then, we plan the actions to reduce energy consumption, saving water resources, reduce carbon emissions, recycling of materials and hazardous waste management.
HAI's environmental management system is certified in accordance with the international standard .
We excel in our environmental policy, but also for the practical applications of the production process, facilities and surrounding area for the benefit of employees, the local community, our Country.
Projects and Actions
We invest in the continuous improvement of our environmental infrastructure.
During the period of 2004-2013 HAI made green investments totaling 6 million €, among which are:
- The creation of Dry Unit Depigmenting Aircraft using plastic beads, without any use of chemicals and toxic substances (investment of 3.5 million €)
- The Technological upgrading and partiall automatization of the installation for the physicochemical treatment of the industrial waste
We exclusively work with licensed operators for the removal and management of industrial waste.
We manage HAI’s solid waste in an environmentally friendly manner and we place them at Thiva landfill, in cooperation with the Office of the Municipal Sanitation of Schimatari.
We implement alternative management plans for recyclable solid waste (paper, glass, metal, plastic, and batteries) in cooperation with accredited recyclers. We encourage the training of HAI’s staff to attend educational seminars forming a new environmental consciousness and integrating relevant practices in our corporate philosophy.
We work with the academic community (universities and other educational institutions) with the aim of continuous improvement for the monitoring system of procedures on the basis of scientific knowledge.
